For those of you who don't know yet, my sister-in-law, Julie, was recently diagnosed and is being treated for Ovarian Cancer. She received the email that has been circling the world about the blood test CA-125 and felt the need to see her doctor, which led to the diagnoses.
I strongly urge all my female friends and relatives to have a thorough pelvic exam because this CA-125 can give both false positive and false negative results. The best thing for each of us is to know our bodies, recognize something that is not working properly and let our doctor know. If there is a family history of cancer, especially breast cancer, or ovarian cancer, please get a thorough pelvic exam every year.
